Getting Ready

Kindergarten is comin'!
For the past few months we have attended events at Maddox's new school to introduce him to the kindergarten life. Most of these events are at the most inconvenient times but Maddox needs to be there so we make it work.

The first event happened to be in the evening so we all went. Thank you Olathe schools for thinking about the working parents! On this night, we got to meet the principal and take a tour of the school.
Principal Smith talking to the future kindergartners. It was at this meeting that we found out that those who requested all day kindergarten GOT IN! Yay! Kansas is funny about kindergarten so this was great news!
Little sister taking it all in.
At the end of the evening all the kids got to make a clown out of a sugar cookie and candy. This, of course, was the best thing that could have happened.
The next event was at 9:30 am. Since it was at such a convenient time, Maddox came to work with me in the morning before we headed to school.
The event was to meet the kindergarten teachers. The kids were split up and actually went to kindergarten classrooms and did "things." I'm not really sure what those things were because the parents had their own little informative meeting at the same time. Maddox wasn't super chatty about it so I guess we'll never know.
And, finally, one last event yesterday afternoon. This time we were there to meet the librarian, music teacher and PE coach. The librarian read a book in the library, we passed through the computer lab and checked out the art room.

The music teacher had some songs and instruments ready to go.
And, we ended the day in the gym with exercises and testing balance. Maddox told me this was his favorite part of the day.

The next time we go to this school will be for "Meet the Teacher" night in August. It will be here before we know it. How is it that it's already time for kindergarten?!
