The weekend of Maddox's birthday we loaded up and headed east to Louisville, Kentucky. Actually, GP and Gran rented a cabin in Magnet, Indiana. Magnet is located along the Ohio River and about an hour from Louisville...down a long and winding road. The cabin was lovely and each day we went on an adventure to Louisville to see some sites.
First up, the Louisville Children's Museum. The place was huge. Maddox explored the whole place as fast as he could but Sage spent a little more time at each exhibit.
"Wheels on the bus go beep beep beep"
After the museum and lunch, we snuck over to the Louisville Slugger Factory. We didn't go in but passed by the window and saw all kinds of bats being made.
After the trip back to the cabin and some much needed naps, we did a little exploring around Magnet.
Sean watched from above.
Day 2 we set sail on a cruise down the river.
A impromptu dance party on the boat.
Louisville skyline from the river
Back at the cabin we watched big rodents in the neighbors yard.
Day 3 we started with a birthday party for Maddox!
Day 3 ended with a trip to Churchill Downs.
Barbaro statue and memorial.
"Barbaro died. He broke him's leg and he died. He won him race." -Sage
First, we toured the Kentucky Derby Museum.
Then took a tour of Churchill Downs. Maddox lead the pack.
The famous spires
This is really a neat place to see. The kids, were not impressed that there weren't horses to see. Look at Sage, she was really happy about it.
The whole gang
After the big tour we enjoyed some BBQ.
The wait staff sang to Maddox but he was too embarrassed to turn around to see.
Back at the cabin there was MORE celebrating with cake and ice cream.
Thanks to GP and Gran for a great trip.
Sunday morning, we were up early to head home
And what's a vacation post without a picture of the beautiful arch! This one's for Sean.
